Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) is a new illness that can affect the lung and airways.The cause is a newly discovered virus called Acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2( SARS COV2).
Ophthalmologists are high risk category not only because they have close contact with patients during examination but also because their daily out patient clinics and Operating rooms are overcrowded with high patient volume,consisting mainly of elderly age group mostly with co-morbidities.
Cataract surgery is the most commonly performed surgery in an eye hospital.
The paper discusses the functioning of a teritiary care eye hospital with reworked protocols,and the various safety measures undertaken by the ophthalmologists and the support staff in delivering this most important sight restoring surgery in these difficult times.
