Abstract
Background- In India 30% population among blind people loss their eyesight before 20 years so, early detection & treatment of ocular morbidities in them can make significant difference.
Aim- Study aims to evaluate the prevalence & pattern of ocular morbidities in children of 5-15 years in Ghaziabad region (U.P)
Materials & Methodology – Observational Cross Sectional study was conducted with 200 children who attended OPD.They were divided in 3 age groups: 5-8 , 9-12 & 13-15 Years & studied for age wise as well as gender wise distribution of various ocular morbidities.Each child has undergone comprehensive ocular examination & results were recorded and analyzed in detail.
Results- The Prevalence of ocular morbidities was 29.5%, among this Refractive Error was most common ( 8%) followed by Ocular Trauma (6%), Ocular Surface Diseases (5.5%), Ocular Adnexal Diseases (4%), Squint (1.5%), Amblyopia (1.5%), Congenital Ocular Anomaly (1%), Colour Blindness & Vitamin A Deficiency (0.5%).
