Abstract
A 13 year old girl presented with complaints of neck pain and left face turn which had started since she joined school. In past 8 years multiple eye consultations were done but due to no improvement they had consulted a surgeon who advised neck surgery. She had been operated 3 months back in the left side of the neck and her neck pain had significantly increased since then for which she had to drop out of school. On examination she had a 25 degree left face turn and binocular VA with face turn was 20/20. On occluding either eye her face turn disappeared and right beating nystagmus was evident with VA dropping to 20/60 in both eyes. Ocular motility was full and free with no squint. Anterior and posterior segment examination was normal. MRI showed normal brain and neck scans. Patient was counselled for nystagmus surgery and Park’s “5-6-7-8” procedure was done which improved her left face turn to less than 5 degrees. Patient was relieved of her condition and could rejoin school.
