Abstract
A 30yr old male,presented with swelling and discharge of the left eye for 3 days following fall from bicycle.On examination of left eye,vision 6/9,proptosis,displacement of globe with periorbital edema,conjunctival tear,chemosis and extraocular movements were restricted temporally. AS remains WNL. MRI revealed foreign body(FB) lateral to lateral rectus with orbital cellulitis.Organic FB was removed by lateral canthotomy approach and patient got improved. 3 weeks followup,patient presented again with DOV,discharge and swelling.Pus for culture and sensitivity showed growth of fungal hyphae. MRI revealed FB granuloma in deep lateral extraconal compartment of left orbit.While planning for further exploration with neurosurgery,there was self expulsion of a piece of wood at 4 weeks followup.Later,transconjunctival orbitotomy was performed and 4*1cm long FB (extending upto orbital apex) was separated from muscles and removed.Postoperatively,vision was improved and patient is under follow up.
