Abstract
A 15 month old male was brought by his parents to a tertiary care centre with complaints of a large mass in the right eye.
On examination the mass was large and was extending from the bridge of the nose to the right orbit. There was medial canthal dystopia and the pupillary plane was complete obscured. There was no change is size on valsalvas maneuvre. On palpalation, the lesion was firm, non-tender, non-reducible, non-compressible in nature.
An CEMRI revealed that the lesion was isointense to that of the brain. CT scan revealed absence of any bony defect.
A probable diagnosis of glial heterotopia was made.
Surgical excision of the lesion was performed, taking care that no damage is done to the lacrimal drainage system.
The surgical outcome was excellent and the diagnosis was confirmed on histopathological examination.
