Abstract

Cataract surgery in eyes with coloboma is challenging as it poses greater risk of complications due to its associated ocular malformations. In addition, these eyes are to be handled with great caution due to the increased risk of complications and poor surgical results. The IntraOperative complications are doubled while performing phacoemulsification maneuvers in hard cataract with coloboma. There are very few reports on the performance of Manual small incision Cataract surgery (M-SICS) in eyes with congenital coloboma. Nucleus managements are challenging in these cases due to absent zonular support. We describe the M-SICS techniques to be adopted while operating a Hypermature cataract in a patient with Coloboma, without the support of capsular tension rings. This video would be helpful for all PG’s and practicing ophthalmologist. The combination of Coloboma and White Cataract can be challenging and MSICS can be a safer alternative in these cases.
