Abstract

Introduction: the crystalline lens is normally held in a stable intraocular position by zonular fibres that connect to ciliary body and attach circumferentially to equatorial region of lens capsule. Inherited disorders like Marfan syndrome, Homocystinuria, Weill-Marchesani syndrome and negelected hypermature cataract sometimes present as spontaneous anterior dislocation of lens. Traumatic dislocation of intra ocular lens can results in its displacement into suprachoroiadal & sub conjuctival space, anterior chamber or in wound

Method: the dislocated lens can be managed with lensectomy, anterior vitrectomy and surgical iridotomy.Aphakia can be managed with either sclera fixated IOL or contact lens.

Conclusion: With timely action and intervention by Vitreo retinal surgeon, many of potential complication associated with anterior lens dislocation can be avoided. Thorough systemic and posterior segment examination is mandatory in all such cases
