Abstract

Amniotic membrane is a wonder tissue .It is can be used for various ocular surface disorders.It can speed healing, reduce scarring and improve comfort. It can be used in two forms- dry and wet. The wet amniotic membrane can be freshly obtained from the placenta and is good alternative in case of unavailability and unaffordability of commercially available preserved dry amniotic membrane . The video demonstrates the harvesting technique of wet amniotic membrane from the placenta which was then used for the management of bilateral grade 3 ocular chemical burn giving excellent postoperative outcome .The technique for harvesting is quite easy and even a general ophthalmologist can procure and use it .
