Abstract
With the use of face shield/PPE kit during Corona crisis, visualising fundus in slit lamp became challenging. Also with the use of 90D lens, the doctor may accidentally touch the patient’s face or mask. This video portrays how confocal imaging can be substituted for a slit lamp fundus examination in providing unsurpassed image quality with 60° field in a single exposure, with approximately 30 seconds for both eyes for imaging, to cater high volume practices. As confocal imaging works through smaller pupils, it eliminates the critical dilatation step, thus reducing the OPD wait time as well. In this movie, we have also highlighted our clinical work flow module with a time flow study involving automated non-mydriatic confocal stereoscopic imaging. The quality of the non-mydriatic image and its effectiveness in diagnosing the pathology were evaluated and had excellent outcomes. Hence we concluded, it provided a safer and effective alternative in high volume practices during the COVID era.
