Abstract

Purpose: Video-based demonstration of a rare complication of massive suprachoroidal hemorrhage during ocular surgery, the aftermath, and points in relation to medical ethics and special interest for anterior segment surgeons

Synopsis: A middle-aged lady, bilateral multiple graft failure was posted for a trial of Keratoprosthesis. Spontaneous expulsion of intraocular contents occurred like a volcano. Postoperatively patient went into a severe grief reaction and depression requiring psychiatric treatment along with uncontrolled hypertension. The aftermath and special interests namely watchful expectancy, risks counseling, legal support in calculated risk cases, contributions to medical negligence & surgeon-patient relationship in post morbidity psychological recovery would be discussed.
