Abstract
We here describe some such modifications that can be done in the OPD to prevent contamination from COVID-19 1)Repeated cleaning of the lens and the sensors of the OCT machine can cause micro-abrasions and leave surface residues. Covering the front part of the machine with a thin plastic sheet or cling-on wrap acts as a barrier to contamination, also protecting the optical surface of the machine from undue damage caused by repeated cleaning. 2)A similar modification can be done for the laser delivery systems used in regular ophthalmic practices. Clinically insignificant difference was seen in the clinical outcome. 3) A similar use of cling wraps or plastic sheets on a PVC pipe support enclosing these lenses acts as a barrier to contamination. 4)Door handles are a common source of transfer of fomites from one person to another. Here we describe a simple innovation to avoid direct contact with the handle surface. This technique can be used with all varieties of handle & door structures.
