Use of visco elastic is very common and safe during phaco procedure. However, if not removed completely, then can give rise to complications. In this series, 52 normal eyes with operable cataracts (Grade II to IV) were subjected to routine pre op work up including specular biomicroscopy. Corneal endothelial cells count was average 2699 cells/mm2. BSS was introduced in A.C. through Ant. Chamber Maintainer keeping the tip of cannula facing inferiorly away from operating area. All steps from corneal wound making to IOL implantation (small amount of visco during loading) were done in BSS only. There was no intra or post op complication. Average 75 cc of BSS was used. All patients were examined after one month. IOP was normal. Corneal endothelial cells count was average 2671 cells/mm2. Cell loss was 28 cells/mm2 (1.03%) only. Best corrected vision was from 6/6 to 6/9. AC remained well formed throughout procedure, even on withdrawal of instruments from AC during various steps .
