Abstract
Methods: In this observational, randomized, prospective study; 150 patients were divided into three groups A, B & C. Nepafenac (0.1%), bromfenac (0.09 %) and carboxymethylcellulose (0.5%) (placebo or control arm) labeled as A,B & C. Horizontal pupil diameter was measured before entering the anterior chamber and after IOL insertion.
Results:The difference in pupillary size at the conclusion of surgery was statistically significantly different between the group A & C (p < 0.001) and between group B & C (p < 0.001) but statistically insignificant between group A & B (p = 0.264). Conclusion- prophylactic use of topical bromfenac is as effective as nepafenac in maintaining mydriasis during cataract extraction.[advanced_iframe src="https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/embed.aspx?src=https://aiosproceedings.s3.ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com/2021/E-Poster/FP1476.pptx" width="100%" height="608"]
