Abstract
Material and Method-This is a prospective study conducted on 100 cataract patients equally divided into two groups.Group A patients operated for Phacoemulsification and group B for MSICS. In both groups demographic data-age, sex, comorbidity and Discriptive data like macular thickness using SD-OCT and BCVA was recorded pre and postoperatively at 1week,4 weeks,3 months.
Result-There was a significant subclinical change in the macular thickness without affecting the BCVA. Differences between the 2 groups in the mean macular thickness values noted preoperatively(‘t’=0.96;P>0.05),at 1 week(‘t’=1.06; P>0.05),4 weeks(‘t’=0.62;P>0.05),3 months(‘t’=0.24;P>0.05)postoperatively were not statistically significant.
Conclusion-Subclinical macular thickness change occurs after uncomplicated cataract surgery with peak at 1 week after surgery and can last upto 4 weeks.
