Abstract
METHODS : A 2 year prospective study was conducted with 52 patients who underwent penetrating keratoplasty for optical purpose and was followed up on POD 1,1st,3rd and 6th month. Data regarding donor cornea was noted.
RESULTS : The most common indication was Bullous keratopathy (38.4 %). Overall improvement in vision was seen in 69.2 % of patients compared to pre op vision. Most common early post op complication was epithelial defect (30.7 %) and late complications were secondary glaucoma (7.6 %) and graft failure (19.2 %). Hospital retrieved corneas and less preservation time had better visual outcome.
CONCLUSION : This study emphasize the various parameters which determines the visual outcome and the importance of hospital corneal retrieval.
