Abstract
AIM-To determine the prevalence and factors responsible for non-healing corneal ulcer in tribal belt with industrial neighbourhood of Jharkhand.Materials and method-Prospective study done on 93 diagnosed patients of corneal ulcer between December 2018 -December 2019 in a tertiary care centre.Detailed eye examination including best corrected visual acuity,IOP with non contact tonometer,fluorescein stain examination,culture and sensitivity from corneal scrapping was done.Result- Males(66.67%) within age 20-40 years were predominantly affected .Ocular trauma(51.61%) due to accident, industry and agriculture were most prevalent cause .Delayed treatment(66.66%) and incomplete treatment (54.50%) may results dreadful outcome. Conclusion-Being an industrial area population residing under are more prone to trauma at working place,which should be addressed immediately.Indiscreminate use of corticosteroids in early stage at periphery was one of the leading cause which should be discouraged.
