Abstract

Ethambutol is used as treatment in the infection of mycobacterium species M.tuberculosis and non-tuberculous pathogen like M.avium complex and M.kansasii. Symptoms of ethambutol toxicity include dyschromatopsia, decreased visual acuity, and central or centrocecal visual field defects. Less common symtoms of ethambutol toxicity are peripheral neuropathy, cutaneous reaction, thrombocytopenia and hepatitis.

Here we present a series of 3 cases where the entire spectrum of ethambutol-induced optic neuropathy is seen. Ethambutol optic neuropathy(EON) is highly dose-dependent.so the correlation between the doses and symptoms and signs will be observed.
