Abstract
Materials & Methods: the study was done in 2 Govt. Medical Colleges in India in the year, 2011 and 2018. All the students were provided a sheet of questionnaire to fill it up. Data was analyzed to evaluate the common reasons. The students were divided into Groups A & B according to Year of study and the Institution.
Observation: in Group A, 85.33% and in Group B, 81.00% of the students responded. The ratio of the Hostellers and day scholar was 89:39 and 74:7 respectively. The few common reasons were 1) time factor, 2) lack of strictness in percentage, 3) disliking, 4) teacher selectivity, 5) e- book facility and 6) Library choice.
Conclusion: good attendance in the academic classes must be beneficial for the students for better performance . To improve the situation, some development in the infrastructure and mode of classes might be considered.
