Abstract
To access different kinds of retinal disorder prevailing in population of central India in a mega eye camp conducted between December to February in which 16419 patients were examined.
Method:
It’s a 2 month observational study during mega eye camp. Each patient is examined by general ophthalmologist & diagnosis is confirmed by retina specialist. Retina specific comprehensive eye examination included stereoscopic bio microscopy, binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy. Fundus fluorescein angiography & optical coherence tomography was done when needed.
Result:
During our study, Diabetic retinopathy and ARMD were most common retinal disease. Followed by RVO, pathological myopia, PVD, RD, retinitis pigmentosa etc.
Conclusion:
This is a unique study conducted in rural population to know prevalence of retinal diseases and make them aware of the diseases, screening and availability of their treatment.
