Abstract
Despite immense progress in eye banking and corneal transplantation in the last few years in India, we still have a long way to go. The acute shortage of good quality donor corneal tissues calls for innovative methods to ensure optimum utilization of the available resources including corneal tissues. The recent advances in lamellar surgery techniques have enabled the use of one donor corneal tissue in multiple recipients. The authors discuss their experience of using one cornea in three patients with different corneal pathologies. Component corneal surgery is bound to play a key role in combating corneal blindness in India.
