Abstract
Methods and Materials: A Case Report. Slit lamp examination. Corneal Scraping.
Results: A 24-years-old male, K/C/O chronic VKC was referred for OD pain, DOV & non-responding keratitis for 1 month. Recent H/O of treatment for OD suspected shield ulcer with topical steroid elsewhere. H/O recurrent episodes VKC with unmonitored treatment for the same. Slit lamp examination of OD showed ulcer with deep stromal infiltration. Microbiological assessment was advised with topical & oral antifungal therapy.
Smears of corneal scraping was negative. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar showed presence of Curvularia Geniculata. Fungal keratitis healed within 8 weeks with antifungal therapy.
Conclusion: Curvularia Geniculata infection is rare in a case of Vernal Keratoconjunctivitis.Timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment required for fungal infection with ocular surface comorbidities.
