Abstract
Purpose:To present a case series of autoimmune and hypersensitivity disorders with ocular surface manifestations Methods:A clinical study of 14 patients with various connective tissue/ hypersensitivity disorders with ocular involvement was undertaken.Results:5 cases with cutaneous adverse drug reactions had severe dry eye disease (DED) and lid malformations, managed accordingly. Two cases of rheumatoid arthritis of whom, one had corneal perforation was managed with patch graft.A case of Reiter’s arthritis with keratitis and secondary bacterial infection responded well to treatment.A case of SLE presented with flare up and ocular involvement as bilateral SPK and epithelial erosion in left eye, required prolonged treatment.A HLA B-27 positive ankylosing spondylitis case presented with corneal perforation with pseudocornea. Conclusion: Autoimmune and hypersensitivity related disorders can have myriad ocular presentations and require prompt treatment with local/systemic immunosuppression.
