Abstract

Novel approach in treatment of CSCR patients with psychiatric evaluation & its treatment along with lifestyle modifications

Observational study of 30 CSCR pts willing to undergo psychological evaluation & Rx by psychiatrist. Ophthalmic evaluation included BCVA, fundus , FFA, OCT.

Mono therapy was- Clonazepam(0.5mg)/Etizolam(0.5mg). Twin therapy- Escitalopram (10mg) was added.

Major Depression – 5 pts twin therapy,

Mixed Anxiety -7, Adjustment disorder -10 & Anxiety disorder secondary to medical condition-5 treated with Monotherapy.Nil Psychiatry disorder-3 were advised only lifestyle modifications.

Pts receiving Anxiolytics +/- Antidepressants showed rapid resolution/reduction in sub-foveal fluid in 2-3 weeks of therapy. Medication was continued for 3months, no recurrence noted in any case.

Holistic approach in Rx by involving psychiatrist for evaluation of types of psychological disorders or traits present if any, and it’s effects in management in patients with CSCR was beneficial.
