Abstract
Steroid-induced glaucoma is an iatrogenic disease, which can be prevented.9 year old monozygotic twins presented with complaints of with redness and watering since 4 years on FML eye drops. Child 1: 6/24 ph 6/12 (BE) with papillae over upper palpebral conjunctiva in both eyes, and vascularised pannus in (RE) and limbal inflammation in (LE) posterior subcapsular opacities and near total cupping in both eyes, ATN 24 mmHg (RE) and 34 mmHg (LE) with open angles. Child 2: RE 6/24 -1.00 6/12,LE 6/36 ph 6/36 with papillae over upper palpebral conjunctiva in both eyes, and vascularised pannus in (RE) and SPK in (LE), posterior subcapsular opacities and TGOA in both eyes, ATN 32 mmHg (RE) and 34 mmHg (LE) with open angles. Treatment: stop topical steroids. To continue medications given for VKC and were also prescribed topical antigluacoma medications to be used in both eyes.Conclusion: These cases highlight the severe and permanent side effects stemming from topical steroid eye drops.
