Abstract
To assess the reliability of an Applanation tonometer with digital readout as an effective IOP measurement versus a standard AT and NCT in patients with OHT and Glaucoma. In a Glaucoma speciality clinic, glaucoma patients were checked for IOP by a Nidek NCT NT 510/AT900 and an AT with digital readout. The Ocular pressure readout was taken by a trained optometrist using a Nidek NCT NT 510. Applanantion tonometry was done by a glaucoma specialist. All equipment was checked for calibration error. 27 eyes were screened for 14 patients (Male = 7, Female = 7, mean age = 55.9 years) over a period of a month. The IOP measured using standard Applanation tonometer had a mean of (μ1=17.26, σ1=±6.69), Non-Contact Tonometer(μ2=17.41, σ2=7.23) and Applanation tonometer with digital readout(μ3=17.19, σ3=±6.75).Bland-Altmann plot was used. Digital AT compares well in accuracy with standard AT and NCT devices.
