Abstract
A 24-year-old man underwent neurosurgery for depressed skull bone fractures involving frontal and temporal bones along with left superior orbital rim. On regaining consciousness he complained of impaired vision in both eyes and was referred to an Ophthalmologist. His BCVA was 6/6,N6 in both eyes with normal pupillary reactions. Visual field test showed a complete bitemporal hemianopic defect. No other neurologic symptoms were present. MRI was done for evaluating hemianopia which revealed severe atrophic changes in optic chiasma. On revisiting the previous CT images linear skull base fracture running over the roof of sphenoid sinus and tuberculum sella was noticed. Traumatic chiasmal syndrome should be considered in patients with visual complaints following head trauma with frontal and skull base fracture.
