Abstract
Purpose: To compare femto-assisted deeper crosslinking with the conventional CXL, and study its longterm outcomes
Methods: In phase-1 Femto CXL (Gr1), creation of a femto-assisted stromal pouch, for riboflavin & subsequent UVA was compared with Conventional CXL (Gr2) by 1 year. In phase-2, Gr1 subjects were followed for 3 years for stability by repeated measure statistics
Results: 47 Gr1, 21 Gr2 subjects. In Phase-1, UCVA improved by 1 line, CCT retained in Gr1, reduced by 28 mic.(p=0.002) in Gr2. Astigmatism reduced by 0.32D in Gr1, increased by 0.33D in Gr2. Demarcation Line was 394 in Gr1 & 243 mic. in Gr2. In Phase-2, minimal CCT (471, 472mic), Vision (0.16, 0.17 LogMAR), Astigmatism (2.93, 2.91D), Kmax (47.88, 47.86D) and Kmean (46.07, 46.11D) were maintained in 2nd & 3rd year respectively in Gr1 Conclusion: Deeper crosslinking could be achieved with Femto stromal pouch for deeper diffusion of riboflavin than with Conventional CXL. Deep stromal CXL remained stable after 3 years
