Abstract
Purpose – To compare success rates and complications between external DCR, endoscopic DCR and DCR with implant Design- prospective, interventional ,comparative study. Material and methods – 3 techniques of DCR ( external DCR, endoscopic DCR and DCR with implant) were performed on 60 cases with chronic dacryocystitis followed by syringing postoperatively on day 7,14,30,90 .All 3 techniques were compared with respect to their success rates, complications ,merits and demerits. Result – 3 cases in endoscopic DCR, 1 each in external DCR and DCR with implant failed in respect to patency of ostium with some minor intraop and post op complications in some cases. Conclusion-the success rate was 95% in external DCR, 85% in endoscopic DCR and 95% in DCR with implant .The result of this study in respect to patency indicate that DCR with implant and external DCR had equal and higher success rate as compare to endoscopic DCR but DCR with implant is more easy and less time consuming.
