Abstract
Purpose:To describe an atypical morphological presentation in ROP.Methods:Retrospective review of preterm infants presenting with blister-like configuration of retinal detachment in Zone1.Demographic details, intervention done(Laser Photocoagulation (LP),Intravitreal Ranibizumab (IVR),Lensectomy Vitrectomy(LV),Lens sparing Vitrectomy(LSV)or combination therapy)and outcome:progression to Stage 5 ROP or regression with delineation of vascular arcades and flattening of retina were noted.Results:16eyes of 8infants with mean gestational age29.75± 2.05wks,birth-weight1335± 307.62gms and age at presentation38.88 ± 2.8wks.4 eyes received no intervention,5 eyes LP alone,1 eye LP and IVR,1 eye LP followed by LV.All these eyes progressed to stage5.5 eyes which received multimodal treatment:LP, IVR and LSV showed regression. Conclusion:ROP can present with atypical morphology.Multimodal treatment comprising LP, IVR and early vitrectomy may help salvage such eyes which otherwise have dismal outcomes.
