Abstract
Glaucoma Drainage Devices (GDD) are increasingly used in management of refractory glaucoma. GDDs also have a significant failure rate and short and long term complications especially in complicated situations. A good understanding of factors that lead to failure and timely intervention is critical in improving success rate of these devices. In this instruction course we discuss best techniques for implanting GDDs in different situations. What to anticipate following surgery, and how to identify danger signals and manage complications. There will be discussion on how to deal with high risk cases and how to choose an implant in a given situation. We will also discuss pathophysiology of wound healing in relation to glaucoma imolant surgery.
