Abstract
AIM: To report a case showing the periocular manifestations of Muir-Torre Syndrome (MTS). MTS is a rare condition characterized by a genetic predisposition to sebaceous neoplasms and visceral malignancies.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A 75 year old male presented with a yellowish smooth nodule in left upper eyelid gradually increasing for last 3 months. About 20 years ago he was operated upon for carcinoma colon. The eyelid nodule was excised, histopathology(HPE) was consistent with sebaceous adenoma. Patient remained asymptomatic thereafter. He returned 16 months later with recurrence of papilliform mass at the same location. Full thickness pentagon excision eyelid under margin clearance was done. HPE showed a malignant epithelial tumor, with squamous and sebaceous differentiation with foci of sebaceous adenoma in the background. Based on history & characteristic HPE findings,a diagnosis of MTS was made.
