Abstract
Road traffic accidents leading to canalicular tear is a common presentation in a tertiary care government hospital. Meticulous repair of the canaliculi is important to maintain patency and prevent post-operative epiphora. Herein, we present 4 cases of canalicular tear repair where a 24G IV cannula was used as a substitute to an expensive canalicular stent to maintain patency. The laceration was repaired in double layer. The inner layer was sutured with 6-0 silk to prevent the expulsion of the cannula. The skin was sutured with 6-0 silk and 6-0 silk was passed through the outer edge of the cannula and secured to prevent the post-operative extrusion of the cannula and corneal abrasion. All the patients had excellent post-operative results. Intraoperative and postoperative pictures will be shown in this poster.
