Abstract
25yr F presented with a painless, progressively increasing swelling under left LL
for 2 mths, size 1x1cm, translucent, soft with dilated blood vessels on the
surface. Swelling was non-mobile, arising from palpebral conjunctiva of LL,
mildly congested. There was no other symptom. Patient was prescribed systemic
NSAID along with topical antibiotic and tear substitute.
Patient returned after 2weeks with increased size of 4x3cm. It had now extended
superiorly to involve the lower bulbar conjunctiva & caused restriction in
inferior gaze. B Scan showed a cystic swelling with clear fluid inside & no
involvement of muscle. Rest ocular examination was WNL. CT Head and orbit
was advised. However, patient returned with sudden extrusion of the cyst from
the lower lid and complete resolution of symptoms. This characteristically
pointed toward a live conjunctival cysticercosis which extruded spontaneously.
Later, all investigations for cysticercosis turned out to be negative.
