Abstract
We study 18 eyes with posterior polar cataract who underwent phacoemulsification. After continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis trenching was done followed by “Inside – Out – Hydrodilineation”. No rotation of nucleus. Viscodissection followed by flip and chip method further reduces the risk of PCR. Of the 18 eyes , 17 eyes were done successfully , 1 had a small PCR which was managed well. Incidence of PCR in our study was 5.5% , other authors reported incidence between 7.1% and 36%. In conclusion, technique of delineating followed by viscodissection is extremely safe and reduces the risk of PCR making phacoemulsification in a PPC an easy procedure.
