Abstract
Purpose : Cataract, most common cause of blindness in India, has aphakia as most common surgical complication.Study tries to compare visual outcomes of SFIOL and irisClaw lens ,relative to their affordability and dependence on surgical skill set.Method: Age and sex and family income matched 58 SFIOL patients and 61 iris claw lens patients operated for aphakia due to intra op complication of cataract sx between August,2019 to September,2019 are chosen and followed upto 6 months regarding visual acuity and other factors. Standard statistical procedures followed. Results: Iris claw lens was found out to be more affordable(17%) among matched income groups.Visual outcomes for iris claw lens was better given any surgical skill(p<.001),yet Iris claw had more raised IOP(9%)&iritis(11%) but SFIOL performed better in higher surgical skill set(p<.001).Inference: Iris claw lens can be a good alternative for aphakia where affordability of the patients and availability of senior surgeon is an issue.[advanced_iframe src="https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/embed.aspx?src=https://aiosproceedings.s3.ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com/2021/E-Poster/FP1011.pptx" width="100%" height="608"]
