Abstract

INTRODUCTION – Pseudoexfoliation(Pxf) syndrome is considered a risk factor in cataract surgery.Weakening of ciliary zonules may cause refractive error after IOL implantation even without complication.In this study we evaluated deviation in refraction 1month & 6month after phaco compared with predicted refraction in Pxfpts.

PATIENTS & METHODS- 62 eyes(43pts) with Pxf & 83 eyes(55pts) without Pxf had uneventful phacoemulsification performed between 2019 and 2020 were evaluated. Axial length was 23.22+_0.84mm & 23.54+_1.16mm respectively.Preop astigmatism was -0.99+_0.92 in Pxf group & -1.05 +_0.96D in nonPxf group.Difference was not significant.ATR astigmatism detected in 31eyes in Pxf group & 39 eyes in non Pxf group.WTR astigmatism observed in 3 eyes & 4 eyes respectively.Oblique astigmatism observed in 5 eyes & 8 eyes respectively.

RESULTS – The absolute value of error was larger in Pxf than in nonPxf group at 1month.There was no significant difference in these parameter at 6months.
