Abstract
Objectives:To study the impact of awareness and frequency of eye donation.
Methods: This was the retrospective study of eye donation In our Tertiary Health Care Centre from January 2018 to December 2019.
Result:Total eyeball pairs received=113 (2018- 50, 2019- 63 )
There was peak increment of 62% and 64% in 2018 and 2019 respectively of eye donation after Awareness Campaign leading to more opportunities to provide vision to the Blind.
Conclusion: In this Study, we conclude there is increase in donation pattern after the Eye Donation Fortnight held from 25th August to 8th September. Most commonly cited reason for not being a registered eye donor was lack of awareness about Eye Donation.
The disconnection between the large number of people who expressed willingness to donate and the scarcity who have pledged their eyes for donation could be addressed through educational sessions, collaborations with medical staff and use of social media.
