Abstract
AIM: To analyse the teleconsultation practice amongst ophthalmologists, its benefits & limitations
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ophthalmologists from various states attended the online survey after their consent
RESULTS: The results of the survey of 390 ophthalmologists showed that earlier only 40.9% practiced teleconsultations, but 91.2% of them practiced it during the COVID-19 lock-down & pandemic.45.5% of them followed the AIOS guidelines. The teleconsultation platforms used were Video Conferencing, E-mails, Customized-Apps, Text Messages & Phone Calls. 59.1% of them faced challenges in using these platforms.
CONCLUSION: COVID-19 pandemic has put the frontline health workers under mounting pressure, despite which it has enabled ophthalmologists to provide eye care safely.
