Abstract

Ophthalmology practice has been hit due to novel coronavirus 2019 (nCoV 2019 or SARS CoV2). Infection is a danger for ophthalmologists. Authors present equipment which can be plugged into existing Android mobile phones or Linux devices like single board computers. This data can then be analysed by doctors sitting across the screen without coming close to the patients face or nose. The codes are available with the authors and links can be downloaded and used. In this proof of concept pilot study, 15 users, using a 5-point-Likert-Scale (1-Useless,5=Excellent), gave a mean of 4.13 (SD=0.91).The solution can be attached to existing indirect ophthalmoscopes, slit lamps,retinoscopes, etc. It was tested in different remote locations to test the feasibility and robustness. With special software which can be made easily available all the parameters mentioned in the system were achieved. Different mobiles and tablets were successfully tested. This is a low-cost affordable solution.
