A 35 years old man presented to us with a mature white cataract in the left eye. What was striking about this young man was his extremely short stature and grey hair. His height measured 154 cms. He informed us that his hair had started greying at the age of 24 years. He had his other eye operated for cataract elsewhere 2 years ago. On examination he also had gynecomastia, hypogonadism, dental anomalies and skin pigmentation. A diagnosis of Weber’s syndrome was made on the basis of clinical findings. The patient refused to undergo investigations including genetic testing even though it was offered free of charge. He underwent uneventful cataract surgery with good visual outcome, but was lost to follow up during the COVID associated lockdown. With this case study as a background, the genetics of Progeria is discussed specially its impact on reversing or halting the process of ageing.
