Abstract
METHOD:It was prospective comparative cohort study in 3 divided groups (Topical Cyclosporin and Oral omega 3 fatty acid and Placebo) in which 143 patients were included.Slit lamp examination,vision,Fluorescein stain,Schirmer test were done at regular intervals.
Result:Prevalence of dry eye was more with increasing age and maximum were females(58.2%). Most common symptom was foreign body sensation in 72.9%.Patient of both test group showed statistically significant improvement in all primary outcome measures.TBUT score was significantly higher in patient of Omega3 fatty acid group.
Conclusion:After comparing all parameter of both test group tear film break up time was significantly higher in patients on oral omega3 fatty acid as compared to topical cyclosporine, rest all parameters showed approximately similar improvement.
