Abstract
Material and methods: Medical records of 150 patients presenting with red eye were retrospectively analysed over a period of 3 months (April-June 2020).We included red eye patients with associated symptoms of watering/discharge/foreign body sensation/adherence of eyelids on waking/itching.
The data record included age (5-65years), sex, travel history, presence of fever/cold/cough and co-morbidities (diabetes mellitus, asthma etc.).
Results: 58% (87) of the cases were in age group of 25-45 years.Prevalence among males was 63% (95).
Most common etiology of red eye in our study was viral 62% (93).Patients with travel history associated with red eye were 4% (6).Patients with prodromal symptoms were 9% (13).
Conclusion: Most common etiology of red eye was found to be viral in origin.On close follow up of patients with Corona like illness, they were afebrile and asymptomatic in further visits.
