Abstract
The Study aims at the comparative outcome of corneal ulcers with or without self medication. the sample has been chosen in an interview based manner which includes 50 eyes with history of self medication and 50 eyes without self medication for corneal ulcer.
It has been seen that self medication drugs like steroids, anaesthetic agents leads to worsening of the ulcer condition with prolonged healing and flaring up of the condition following a short phase of so called symptomatic relief. some of the ulcers even showed complications like descematocele formation or perforation due to delayed presentation to ophthalmologist.
