Abstract

Purpose: To describe a technique for anterior lamellar keratoplasty in corneas with anterior stromal scarring.

Method: Hemi-automated lamellar keratoplasty, a procedure that combines manual recipient bed lamellar dissection with femtosecond laser assisted dissection plane formation. It combines the benefits of femtosecond laser lamellar dissection of the donor with resection plane formation in recipient

Results: This surgical technique gives excellent visual and functional outcome. Visual acuity significantly improves in all the cases. No interface haze was seen in any of the cases.

Conclusions: Hemi-automated lamellar keratoplasty is an effective and safe surgical procedure in the treatment of corneas with anterior stromal scarring.
