Abstract
Methods: A total of 25 patients of RRD with CD were randomised into Group A (PST 40mg in 1ml, n=13) and group B (IVTA 4mg in 0.1 ml, n=12), 5 days before the surgery. Serial IOP and ultrasonography was done on day 0, 1, 3 and 5 before the surgery.
Results: Pre injection, no significant difference was found in the IOP between the two groups (P value 0.6). Post injection, a significant rise in IOP was seen in Group B as compared to Group A (P value 0.03). Pre injection, no significant difference was found in the size of the choroidal detachment between the two groups (P value 0.3).
The resolution of choroidal detachment was better in group B as compared to group A (P value 0.037).
Conclusion: IVTA is better than PST for pre operative resolution of choroidal detachment (CD) in patients of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with CD.
