Abstract
Methods: 10 eyes of 10 patients with pseudophakic bullous keratopathy who underwent DMEK were analysed for higher order aberrations with the Sirius topographer in the 3 mm and 6 mm corneal zones both preoperatively and postoperatively.
Results: There was a significant decrease in Median total corneal higher order aberrations at 3 mm zone post operatively from 0.97 to 0.56 microns. There was a significant decrease in median anterior corneal aberrations at 3 mm zone post operatively from 0.94 to 0.46 microns. There was a slight decrease in total corneal wave front aberrations data post operatively in both 3mm and 6mm zones.
Conclusion: DMEK procedure results in anterior and posterior curvatures similar to the physiologic curvatures of untreated healthy corneas as there is no significant change in the corneal aberrations
