Abstract
To determine the Intraocular pressure changes after use of SF6 & C3F8 gas as a tamponade in vitreoretinal surgeries.
Methods:
A retrospective comparative cohort study performed at a tertiary eye care center from January 2011 to December 2019 with the injection of C3F8 and SF6 gas after vitreoretinal surgeries.
Results:
Out of 120 patients, 69 were males and 51 were females. In C3f8 group, the mean IOP at baseline at day 1, week 1 and week 5 after gas insertion was 14.8±3.6, 16.5±5.5, 16.8±7.2 and 13.7±4.3 mmHg respectively. Whereas, in SF6 group, the mean IOP at baseline, at day 1, week 1 and week 5 after gas insertion was 13.4±3.1, 17.1±7.8, 15.6±6.1and 13.8±3.2 mmHg respectively. In combined C3F8 and SF6 group, The mean IOP at the previously mentioned time intervals after gas insertion was 13.9±3.5, 16.8±6.4, 16.5±6.9 and 16.8±7.9 mmHg respectively.
Conclusion:
The mean IOP differed significantly between different time points.
