Abstract
INTRODUCTION- Ultrasound biomicroscopy is a technique used to visualize the anterior segment with the help of high frequency ultrasound transducer. Plateau iris syndrome is angle closure in the presence of plateau iris configuration following a patent iridotomy. Pseudo plateau iris is a condition appears clinically identical to plateau iris but is caused by peripheral iris or ciliary body pigment epithelial cysts pushing the peripheral iris forward causing angle closure and potential glaucoma. DISCUSSION- diagnostic techniques such as slit lamp exam, gonioscopy and B scan , AS OCT all has limitations in this case. CONCLUSION- Pseudo plateau iris is often difficult to diagnose clinically. Often it is suspected, when there is persistency of symptoms or raised intraocular pressure despite a successful iridotomy and no other explainable cause was found. UBM diagnosed many patients with multiple ciliary body cysts was diagnosed plateau iris syndrome – now pseudoplateau iris.
