Abstract
Materials and Methods: Cross sectional analytical study, 94 cases of Open angle glaucoma >40 years of age were included. ISGEO guidelines used for diagnosis. Demographics, clinical aspect, risk factors of disease, anatomical and functional changes due to glaucoma and its management were studied. Data analysed statically.
Results: In our study males were more common compared to females. POAG was more common than secondary OAG, most of the patients were in 45 to 60 years age group, 30 patients had IOP exceeding 21 mmHg, and the mean VCDR was 0.6 ± 0.2. Hypertension was the most common associated condition, while diabetes was found in relatively few cases. Myopia was found to be a risk factor in a few patients.
Conclusion: As glaucoma is a silent thief of sight, identification of risk factors and demographics will definitely help in prevention or reduction in cases of blindness.
