Abstract
AIM :To study the outcome of diode laser trans scleral cyclophotocoagulation in refractory glaucoma in terms of IOP control METHOD:21 eyes of 21 patients with refractory glaucoma underwent Diode Laser cyclophotocoagulation in a tertiary care centre in western odisha. The laser power was set at 1250 mW, with a duration of 2000 ms & a total number of 20 shots were given as treatment. The patients were followed up for 6 months for evaluation of IOP reduction. We included all PL negative cases with uncontrolled IOP despite maximally tolerated topical & systemic drugs or in combination with filtration surgery RESULT: The mean IOP decrease was 42.09% ; 66.6% maintained an IOP ≤21 mmHg for the whole duration of study & 23.8% needed retreatment.CONCLUSION: Diode laser trans scleral cyclophotocoagulation in refractory glaucoma has considerably reduced IOP & agony of both the patients as well as the doctors as regards the resultant pain relief and a very easy day care and OPD procedure
